The History of Brandon Groves
Brandon Groves was built on the site of South Ockendon Hospital.
Developed in the 1930s 'the colony’ – as it was then known – provided a service to countless people with learning disability for two generations.
Upon closure in 1994, the hospital’s own story was published.
A revised edition of that book is now available.
Discover more about the fascinating history of the site and its former inhabitants.
